Idea Variation?: Electronic Drum Sticks

My coworker is always banging on his desk with his fingers (he’s actually pretty damn good). The idea would be electronic drum sticks (I’m sure they exist, but maybe not in this form) that would “detect” the surface you were hitting and play the programmed sound clip.

So, you would get your drumsticks, have a selection of x many surfaces, hit the surface, then select the sound associated with that surface. Hitting the surface with the stick would cause the stick to detect the surface being hit (small camer/mouse sensor/photosensor for texture/color detection, piezo/accelerometer for hardness/bounce, ultrasonic microphone for sound, something like that) and play the sound associated with that surface through the headphones or a small speaker.

Ideally, have a bluetooth interface and some shitty iphone app or game cause that’s what people like in the future (aim low future people, aim low).
